Living in Seattle takes in Marymoor Dog Park with Mr Cooper

Living in Seattle gives me opportunity to experience many different things. We usually take our beloved Jack Russell terrier Cooper to Magnussen Park dog park a bit east of Wallingford. This week we hopped in the car and drove to Redmond so we could enjoy the forty acre dog park on Lake Sammamish in Marymoor park.

We all had a great time and will head back to this beautiful well cared for park on the river next week!

Living in Seattle: Let's Take a Walk About…

 Our first day with temperatures hitting above sixty degrees with sunshine! It's time for a Downtown Seattle walk about!

 

Let's stroll outside Pike Place market today with so many folks out and about. The cobblestone under my feet let's me know where I am, as I experience the sights and sounds of a bustling day. I hear the piano man, a banjo and group of men singing in perfect harmony. They are not performing together, but it doesn't matter, their music is sweet to my ears. With flowers in hand, locals and tourists cannot resist the lure of springtime, captured in the tidy bouquets wrapped by the market florists. I reach the waterfront park and it is alive with people from hither and yon, basking in the sun for the first time this year. Along the pier to my destination of Sculpture Park, I see signs of tourist season everywhere. Boats are sailing, restaurant patios are triumphantly full of people being served local seafood, and I stroll on thinking... This is Seattle!

HAPPY EARTH DAY FROM LIVING IN SEATTLE

  

Today there are many things we can do to celebrate earth day. I would like to share information on a company that practices earth day every day by reclaiming local trees and creating some of the most sophisticated and collectable pieces of furniture you can find.

 

Urban Hardwoods made a splash in Seattle in 2006 by coming to the rescue of West Seattle's  oldest Elm tree when it died. They took the tree down, and through the Urban Hardwoods process turned it into a dining room set for the home owners whose land the tree happened to be on. The other route for the historic 130 year old  tree led directly to the landfill.    

 

There is a new furniture shop on 1st and Lenora Street in Belltown called Urban House and their furniture line is a meld of high quality designs and functional art as well as pieces designed by Urban Hardwoods rescued Seattle trees.  I can't think of a more Earth friendly way to make your home furnishings an homage to the wonders of our planet!

Living in Seattle lets me go to the Seattle Aquarium on a regular basis. I enjoy being a member and see something new every time I visit. There is a little goldfish named Leonard who has been trying to get his own display at the Aquarium for a while now. He has signs up in the Aquarium and was even told he can move in if he could get 30,000 votes from folks who visit. Well, between an aggressive campaign and his Facebook Fan Page, Leonard was voted in to the Seattle Aquarium! But where is he located?... Only time will tell.
