This week when I popped into Seattle Aquarium on one of my walking journeys through Seattle, there were buses out front to signify a school event was participating in the fun excursion of "Life on the Edge"

 

Touch, pick up, and get up close to Seattle marine life!

Tidepool exhibits are made for little hands to touch...

 

This exhibit allows visitors to experience tidepool life of Washington's outer coast and Seattle's inland sea.

 

Gently touch sea anemones, and sunflower sea stars as the naturalist staff explains marine life. Two large video screens above assist in the demonstration as kids have fun learning about environmental conditions and local marine life.

Seattle Fireboats At Dusk

I have been blessed to witness such beauty and splendor throughout my life. I have seen the sun set in Key West and I've walked the cobblestone streets of Philadelphia under a full moon. I've seen moss veil the trees of Atlanta and witnessed lightening crack the sky in Phoenix.

Tug Boats on Elliot Bay

We enjoy watching Tug Boats serve their purpose by guiding large ships into port to load and unload. They are also interesting to watch when the day is less challenging and the boat captains entertain us with their skills just for fun!

Classic Yachts Weekend In Seattle

What better way to spend a Sunday than to climb aboard vintage motor yachts? We walked to Bell Harbor Marina to enjoy the Classic Yacht Association's Rendezvous Celebration to view these fine wood hull designs and cast a vote for our favorite.

 

There were too many amazing vessels to fit into one post, so this 30 second clip is the elegant BELLE, a traditionally designed 50' bridgedeck cruiser.

The Seattle Times 20th annual ranking of the Northwest regions top public companies in 2010 cheers top performers for navigating hard times with skill, and emerging stronger.

According to the Seattle Times, Despite the worst economy since the Depression, Amazon.com brought in more than a billion in profit in 2010, with its gadgets and gismos overtaking media sale, Alaska Air flies high after it came out of a decade long makeover, and the coffee giant Starbucks pulled off the top Northwest spot for being the most robust business after restructuring.

 

 

The Seattle Times noted that the biggest change in it's twenty years of evaluating the top Northwest companies is the effect of globalization and especially the rise of the emerging economies

Queen Anne Eateries

Hilltop Ale House

 

On a particularly sunny day, my husband and I went on a walkabout adventure in Queen Anne, one of my favorite Seattle neighborhoods.

 

Strolling down Queen Anne Avenue, we meander up and down the side streets to view, what else? Real Estate in Queen Anne. As we zig zag our way up and down the avenue, there are many fine places to stop and enjoy the views, shops and a meal. 

 

On this day, we chose, Hilltop Ale House. A local landmark known for good quality food and plenty of on tap ales to quench the thirst of any micro brew fan.

 

Hearing that they make the best Rueben in Seattle, we couldn't resist giving it a try. There were no disappointments when it came to our lunch selection, and although my husband was begrudging to share, it worked out quite nicely that we did! Next time we come back, it will be for an entree including their grilled salmon and one of their tasty on tap beverages.

The Gulf Oil Spill

Seattle Aquarium is hosting a photo exhibit by Daniel Beltra titled "Gulf Oil Spill"

I walked to the Aquarium to view the exhibit and share it with you. The photography was magnificent and the man made devastation is crushingly evident.

Seattle Art Museum and Mixed Elements

Seattle Art Museum is one of my favorite places to pop into during the week. As a member, you can enjoy year long entry to the museum, plus private exhibits and special events.

There is an exhibit on display at Seattle Art Museum called Home to Go, made up of plaster, marble, dust, wood, tile and rope. The artist is Albanian born Adrian Paci, born in 1969. This gift from the Contemporary Collections forum in 2008 is always worth stopping to ponder...

The ingenuity of Man...is how I see it.
