Starbucks Claims Top Spot in Seattle Times Annual Ranking
The Seattle Times 20th annual ranking of the Northwest regions top public companies in 2010 cheers top performers for navigating hard times with skill, and emerging stronger.
According to the Seattle Times, Despite the worst economy since the Depression, Amazon.com brought in more than a billion in profit in 2010, with its gadgets and gismos overtaking media sale, Alaska Air flies high after it came out of a decade long makeover, and the coffee giant Starbucks pulled off the top Northwest spot for being the most robust business after restructuring.
The Seattle Times noted that the biggest change in it's twenty years of evaluating the top Northwest companies is the effect of globalization and especially the rise of the emerging economies
